Amber Rose sets social media alight after RNC speech supporting Trump (2024)

Model and rapper Amber Roseset social media abuzz on Monday as she said in a speech at the Republican National Convention that former President Donald Trumpis 'the best chance we have to give our babies a better life.'

A number of social media users took to Twitter/X to share their opinions on the speech delivered by Rose, with strong opinions on both sides of the political spectrum.

One user said: 'What a f***ing weird timeline we’re in: Amber f***ing Rose is speaking at the RNC.'

The account Gunther Eagleman tweeted: Even Amber Rose knows. All the media does is lie about Donald Trump..!'

An account under the handle @saras76 said: 'Amber Rose gave a classy and heartfelt speech - admitting she was lied to by the media, and saw the light after doing her own research.'

'I can't believe I'm saying this but Amber Rose is actually giving an amazing speech at the RNC right now,' user John Willow said.

Some users were critical of Rose and her support for Trump.

The user Omari Hardy said: 'Amber Rose deserves none of our attention. She never did.'

Another user under the handle @flywithkamala: 'Amber Rose tap danced for MAGA just now at the RNC Convention. She completely played herself.'

One user referenced Trump's remarks following the August 2017 demonstration in Charlottesville that led to deadly violence.

The user, under the handle@TheAvgBlackMan, said: 'When Amber Rose did her research did she see the Neo Nazis in Charlottesville that Trump said were “very fine people”?'

Multiple users referenced a dispute Rose had with reality star Joseline Hernandez last year.

One user said, 'The time joseline hernandez clocked amber rose on this show, it’s all making sense now!' while another said, 'Joseline was right about Amber Rose.'

Some users questioned why the RNC gave Rose such a large platform to speak at their convention.

'Why is MAGA pretending like Amber Rose is some sort of mega celebrity at the Republican National Convention?' one user said. 'Her claim to fame is dating Kanye West. ‘Nuff said.'

Said another user: 'Wait wait wait, Amber Rose got a prime time slot at this disaster?!?!'

Others said they were surprised Rose was given the spot amid her racier business endeavors, including an OnlyFans account.

'I don't have a problem with how Amber Rose makes her money, but I'm a little shocked that the supposed "Party of family values" has her speaking at the Republican National Convention,' said one user.

One user marveled at the coverage Rose received in the wake of her speech.

'They’re really on CNN acting like Amber Rose just delivered a MLK JR or Obama like' speech, the user said. 'Van Jones has the nerve to say she has a “political future.” They are so unserious.'

Rose, the ex-girlfriend of Kanye West and ex-wife of Wiz Khalifa, explained to the Milwaukee that she had a change of heart about Trump after doing some research and attending some rallies.

She was one of the handful of speakers Trump captured in-person Monday night, as he sat in a box at theFiserv Forum, with a bandaged ear, looking smitten.

'I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don't care if you're black, white, gay or straight, it's all love,' Rose said. 'And that's when it hit me, these are my people, this is where I belong.'

Rose said the first Trump supporter in her racially diverse family was her father and she pushed back saying she believed the Republican was racist.

He pushed back, she said, and told her Trump wasn't.

'And when he insisted, he said prove it.So to prove my father wrong I did my research and looked into all things Donald Trump,' she said.

She said her experience with Trump's 'red-hat wearing supporters' made her change her tune.

'So I let go of my fear of judgment, of being misunderstood, of getting attacked by the left and I put the red hat on too,' she said to cheers and screams. 'I never felt more free and more love for my country than I do now.'

Rose's appearance stood out Monday as the other speakers consisted of politicians, average Americans and a top union boss.

Republican conventions historically haven't had a lot of Hollywood types onstage compared to the Democratic counterparts.

And even Trump's past as a reality TV star hasn't really helped.

In the last decade and a half the most notable onstage celebrity appearance was likely when director and actor Clint Eastwood pretended that a chair was then President Barack Obama, making the case for GOP nominee Mitt Romney in 2012.

Trump attracted a handful of D-listers to the 2016 convention in Cleveland, giving Antonio Sabato Jr. and Scott Baio speaking slots.

In 2020, Trump's convention moved to Washington, D.C. amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with a slimmed down speakers' schedule.

Beyond Rose, reality TV starSavannah Chrisley will speak onstage at the four-day affair.

There were some rumblings that 50 Cent may also be on hand, with CNN reporting Monday that the rapper 'is in talk' with convention officials to perform.

But a spokesperson told DailyMail.com that he currently has a scheduling conflict.

'He's slated to be somewhere else,' his publicist said.
