Have you been to Alexandria?

Recently did a layover in the new old Alexandria hotel. Pretty nice. Cool vibe on Kings Street with lots of good restaurants (and even a couple Irish pubs). Easy walk down to the waterfront. Literally a 3 minute walk to the metro station and a 20 minute ride to DC if that’s your jam. Only downside is it’s like a 45 minute drive from IAD.

You’ve been asked plenty…to submit hotel FCRs. You’ve been encouraged to send them for every rotation - good and bad. If you aren’t doing this, your wishes are being diluted by those of us who do.

I send them when warranted. I’m wishing for something much more extensive than rating a property. A to Z survey. How long for downtown layover. Is 12 too short with trips as built today. If you get delayed below 12 but more than 10, still going downtown. The downtown thing is more dangerous these days than ever. During the summer of peaceful protesting, they walked us from downtown Chicago to Schaumburg. Great hotel and area. For some downtown layovers, get me to a nice Suburban area with lots of stuff. This can’t be taken care of with FCRs. An extensive survey would be nice.

Tell me you’ve never been to Ann Arbor, Annapolis, Alexandria, etc. without telling me you’ve never been.

Some cities we need to be downtown. New Orleans and Nashville come to mind. Most layovers, all I need is a gym and a decent restaurant.
