A nominating committee to choose candidates for officers was named. The committee is Frank Orsborne, Don Sumner, Dorothy Price, Priscilla Cardwell and Bonnie Haller, who was named chairman of the committee. A committee to form the by-laws also was named: Wilbur Haller, chairman; Elizabeth Knapp, acting temporary publicity chairman; and John Thompson, Agnes Dunbar, Aleena Moody and Lois Umstead. The next meeting will be held in early January.
I Approximately 100 residents of Barefoot Park Homeowners Association attended a Christmas party and dinner at Duff's restaurant. After dinner, a short business meeting was held. A gift exchange was conducted by gift chairman Louise Newcomb. John Grozinger, president of the association, was master of ceremonies for the evening. Organist Conrad Gresck led the group in carol singing.
New officers for the 1985-86 year were introduced: John Grozinger, president; Patricia Pippen, vice president; Marie Burg, treasurer; and Leroy Jones, secretary. The DeLand Orchid Society recently held a Christmas dinner and installed officers for the new season at the DeLand Garden Club's clubhouse. Robert Thompson served as the installation officer after the dinner. Scented votive candles are placed in paper bags partially filled with sand. The candles, which are lit at 6:30 p.m.
Christmas Eve, are then placed on sidewalks to line city streets and neighborhood walkways, said Dottie Hayman, head of the project. Members of Zeta Theta chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a DeLand sorority, will sell the lights at $3 a set, which includes a dozen scented candles and a dozen bags. The sets are available from any sorority member or at Stetson Flower and Gift Shop and the Sun Bank, both in DeLand, and Chuck Walker Building with offices in Orange City and DeLand. The holiday project, which in previous years has benefited The House Next Door and the Chemical People, will again aid a local charitable organiza.tion..
